Allergies can cause a variety of symptoms, including runny nose, itchy eyes, sinus congestion and difficulty breathing.

An allergic reaction is the result of an over-active immune system in response to a substance the body sees as a foreign invader. Examples of common allergens include dust, mold, pet dander and pollen.

From a yogic perspective, allergies represent an issue with the sixth chakra, or energy center, in the body. The sixth chakra includes the eyes, nose and ears. Yoga for allergies postures are designed to stimulate the energy of the sixth chakra, open up the airways, and improve breathing.
